ACDI upgrade from 4.1 to 24.3.1

We will show you how to upgrade ACDI from version 4.1 to version 24.3.1.

Here we have a working ACDI instance: there’s some information

A custom dashboard

And report as well as some custom configurations in the Administration settings.

To upgrade the current instance, you need to upload an archive in .zip format with the newest ACDI version to the machine with ACDI version 4.1 and unzip the archive.

It doesn't really matter to which folder you upload and extract the ZIP archive; the only nuance is that all operations have to be performed with a root user, using root permissions.

We’ve unzipped the archive now. The next step is to go to the folder created by unzipping the archive, and as we are going to upgrade ACDI from version 4.1, we need to run the command "./update_4.1-24.3.sh".

Let's take a look at the currently installed ACDI path now and define it.

ACDI version 4.1 is installed in "/opt/acdi/4.1". Please copy and paste the path.

Here we’ll need to define the final path where the newest version of ACDI will be installed. It's "(/opt/acdi)", which is a default path and can be changed if you need. This step may take some time, so please be patient.

You can see here that the update script is creating a backup of the current ACDI installation and current system files.

Now it's reading and copying all configuration files as well as enriching them with additional settings to enable new functionality.

Okay, migration of configurations is finished and the update script is starting all services one by one.

We can see that OpenSearch is started as well as Core Engine (a proxy service server) and Audit Server (a web-based application).

Now it's the OpenSearch Dashboard's and other services' turn.

At this step you are asked if you want to enable the NetIQ Access Manager (NAM) integration. If yes, the service will be started and enabled, and the Logstash service will be configured to listen for NAM events. If not, the whole package will be installed but a line in the CRON tab will be added and commented.

Moreover, if you need to start the Logstash service, you will have to enable it beforehand. Let's enable the NAM integration.

The update is now completed.

Let’s go back to the web application,

restart it and log in to our account using the same credentials we used to log in to ACDI 4.1.

ACDI has been updated. We can add the license here.

The Logstash integration is enabled and the number of objects in a snapshot remained the same.

The custom dashboard and report haven't gone anywhere either.

Thank you for your attention. Have a great day. Bye!
